Location: 

• 1750 m above sea level on a sunny south-western alpine terrace inmidst of green nature

• Plane meadow and mountain creeks for playing
• Approx. 1 hour walking distance from Parpan
• Access by car possible, but only during the snow-free season and only with a special permit (acquired from the local authorities in Churwalden: approx. CHF30) 
• Acces in winter only by skis or walking, about 1hr from the village to the house (difference in altitude approx. 250m, distance approx. 4km) 
• Skiing region Parpan/Churwalden/Valbella/Lenzerheide close by 
• However, the house is not located at a skiing site! 
• During local avalanche threat the access may be forbidden by local authorities

Equipment/
Rooming:

• Maximum 30 people: 1 room with 16 matresses, 1 room with 11 matresses, 1 room with 2 beds (additional camp bed possible)
• large living- and dining-room with a fire place
  
• 2 WCs and 2 separate wash-rooms 
• Telephone available 
• Not for wheel-chairs (corridors and doors are too narrow)
  

Level:

• Spacious but cosy alpine house 
• Well equipped kitchen for vacation camps with a wood stove (type Tiba, with a large cooking surface) plus a small propane heater for small meals
• For self-cookers
• Come with your own sleeping-bag plus a pillow-case or bedding (woolen blankets available)
• Running cold water
• No showers! - but something much nicer (see under specialty)
• Fire place and liquid fuel stove
• In the entire house solar-electric light, in the living-room additional propane gas light                      

• Open-air bathing tub for approx. 8 persons at a time (heated by wood stove). 
• This is WELLNESS at Parpan Oberberg in our own "Thermal Pool" in the free alpine air, in winter in snow and ice.
• Muscle power generator: Charging empty solar batteries operating a bicycle on the spot, when clouds cover the sun.
• Windgenerator: Enjoy charging of the solar batteries, when a nasty wind howls around the house.
  

Guests:

The alpine house Schalom (german spelling for the English Shalom) shall be a place of peace and encounter in the spirit of  the Gospel. So our invitation is primarily addressed to christian groups of children, youth, students, families (two or more families) and adults, as well as congregations. Other types of groups by agreement.
Ideal size of groups approx.. 20-25 people.
For small groups, single families, couples, etc., for whom the alpine house Schalom is too large and for whom we do not offer longterm (over 2 months) reservation, we want to draw your attention to other possibilities; for this see under Links.

Please note:

Rent:

Primarily weekly rent, exceptions (for example weekends) by special agreement

Booking:

Normally longterm advance booking (more than two months in advance) for at least 15 people
Less than 15 people and single families only booking on shorter notice (less than two months in advance), but we are open for exceptions as well.
